Would you like to embark on a doctoral study experience?  At the TRIAGON Academy, we offer a Ph.D programmeDoctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)” which can be specifically tailored to your research needs.

Our full-time flexible doctoral programme is aimed at Master’s graduates who want to further their research skills and competency in areas such as: technology, humanities, social sciences, economics or art, at the highest academic level.

You will obtain your doctorate in the area of your chosen specialisation by means of an independent research or innovation academic project which will culminate in the final doctoral thesis.  During your entire research process, you will be supervised individually and professionally by top-class academics.

The final objective of the Ph.D. program is to successfully defend the doctoral thesis.

Thanks to the flexible mode of study and regular academic exchange with your doctoral supervisor, who will guide you all the way through the doctoral journey, you can continue  your professional career while fulfilling your doctoral research commitments.  

You will obtain an internationally recognized Ph.D. degree after at least three years of doctoral studies at the 3rd level of the Bologna Classification (Level 8 MQF).

Recognition and Accreditation of the Study Programme

Triagon is a Higher Education Institution with international accreditation. Our institution meets the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG) as well as the requirements of the German Science Council (WR).

This has been confirmed by the distinguished German accreditation agency ACQUIN, which is a full member of EQAR. The programme accreditation and the institutional accreditation were granted in full and without any conditions.

In addition, all degree programmes are accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA), at levels 6 (Bachelor), 7 (Master) and 8 (Doctorate) of the Malta Qualifications Framework (MQF) and the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF) respectively.

All Triagon degrees are internationally recognised and strictly adhere to the standards and requirements for higher education laid out in the Bologna Process. All study programmes offered by Triagon enable students to pursue further studies (e.g. a Master's degree or a doctorate) on an international level.

Activities accompanying doctoral studies & dissertation

Doctoral activities and the research supervision for your doctoral thesi are the two core elements of our Ph.D. programmes at Triagon. Both elements are in interlinked and form the basis of your succesfull achievement of academic practice.

We recommend that you keep a log of your doctoral activities during the entire doctoral journey. This documentation serves as a basis for ensuring your progress while deciding upon addition guidance and assistance the doctoral student may require.

In the first two years of your doctoral program, the TRIAGON Academy organizes two virtual doctoral seminars. Both seminars are mandatory – and an essential part of your doctoral activities.

Seminar I – Advanced Research Methods and Academic Writing

Advanced research methods at doctoral level: In this seminar you  will have  the opportunity  to refresh and  consolidate your skills in the areas of scientific work and academic writing.  This ensures high academic standards in the presentation of your written content.

Seminar II – Doctoral Conference

The aim of this conference is to prepare you for adequate  academic communication, particularly in preparation for the doctoral thesis defence.  In this confernece you will be asked to present your research project comprehensively and work in progress (which shall include data collection and possible pilot study) to the public and other academics in your field of study. The conference will span three days where you will present, reflect and discuss.The doctoral confernece will be organised in a hybrid way and therefore you will have the opportunity to either travel to Malta to be physically present at our campus or else participate in the comfort of your home.

 

Your Doctoral thesis

In the last phase of your studies, you will focus on the writing of your doctoral thesis. As part of your ongoing academic support, you will regularly  be asked to participate in supervision sessions and tutorials. You will receive detailed advice  on your research direction as well as on the form and content  of your thesis. This will enable you to conduct independent research and finaliseyour doctoral thesis on time.

Your advantage: At the TRIAGON Academy, you  will be  provided with a personal supervisor who will accompany you professionally during your doctoral journey.

Course of study and contents of the Ph.D.

Your Ph.D. program starts with a comprehensive introductory workshop. During the following introductory phase, you can design your research topic. This will be refined and approved in the course of time in order to determine the form and content of your thesis.

Afterwards, you will regularly participate in individual supervision sessions to document the development of your doctorate where you shall be submitting individual chapters to your supervisor for review and duscussion.

In group or individual tutorials you will receive continuous formative feedback. The respective progress reports are submitted in the form of written drafts, but may also include or be supplemented by other forms of presentation.

Of course, you will have access to our modern online learning library throughout your studies. This offers you comprehensive and detailed learning material.

The Ph.D. is  a virtual program (online study) with individual 1 to 1 supervision.  You can  make any study arrangements given the flexibility and degree of autonomy each student has when enrolling in this PhD programme.

Target group

Our Ph.D. program is aimed at professionals and early career researchers who already have an EQF level 7  degree and want  to pursue  postgraduate studies at  the highest academic level. With your Ph.D. you deepen your knowledge and competencies in your field of study (e.B. arts, humanities, social sciences, economics or technology).

Your degree is the highest possible academic degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).

Admission requirements

Prospective students must be in possession of:

  • An MQF/EQF level 7 full qualification obtained from a recognised college/Institute/University in the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Science or Technology (depending on the field of study the learner chooses to focus) followed by an interview which will determine the prospective students’ aptitute for doctoral studies;

Or

  • A First Class Honours degree obtained from a recognised college/Institute/University in the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Science or Technology (depending on the field of study the learner chooses to focus) followed by an interview which will determine the prospective students’ aptitute for doctoral studies;

Or

  • Relevant publications in referred academic journals in the filed of Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Science or Technology (depending on the field of study the learner chooses to focus) followed by an interview which will determine the prospective students’ aptitute for doctoral studies.

Tuition fees and financing

The monthly cost is €665 (with 36 installments) for a duration of 3 years plus €390 one-time registration fee payable upon acceptance and €390 one-time examination fees payable upon doctoral writing registration and are thus significantly below the costs of other private universities. Each additional semester costs € 3,930.
Tuition fees can be paid monthly or semester by semester.
